Get a Kurdish keyboard on your device
Type Kurdish everywhere — not just here. Pick your device:
iPhone & iPad Built in
- Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards.
- Tap Add New Keyboard…
- Choose Kurdish, then pick Kurmancî.
- While typing, switch keyboards with the 🌐 globe key.
Android Built in
- Open any app and tap a text field to show the keyboard.
- On the keyboard, open Settings (⚙) → Languages → Add keyboard.
- Search for Kurdish (Kurmancî) and add it.
- Switch with the 🌐 globe key. (Uses Gboard; if it’s missing, install a dedicated app.)
Windows Free download
- Windows has no built-in Kurmancî (Latin) layout — easiest is Keyman (free), then add its Kurdish Kurmancî keyboard.
- Prefer a system layout? Download the community Kurmancî Latin layout, unzip, and run
setup.exe. - Then switch layouts anytime with Win+Space.
macOS Free download
- macOS has no built-in Kurmancî layout. Easiest is Keyman (free) with a Kurdish keyboard.
- Or download a
.keylayoutfile (e.g. Bedirxan) into~/Library/Keyboard Layouts. - Enable it in System Settings → Keyboard → Input Sources, then switch from the input menu in the menu bar.
Linux Built in
- Most Linux desktops already include a Kurdish layout.
- GNOME/KDE: open Settings → Keyboard → Input Sources, click + and add Kurdish (Turkey, Latin Q).
- Or in a terminal:
setxkbmap tr -variant ku. - Switch with Super+Space.
